Reboot Board Members are committed to advancing the mission and growth of the company. Board members not only help maintain what we do, but aid in expanding our reach and influence.
ORG BASICS
Reboot Theatre Company has an annual operating budget of $125,000
Reboot is governed by a Board of Directors, each position serving three years. More information can be found in the Bylaws of Reboot Theatre Company.
Reboot currently has no paid staff. “Staff” positions are fulfilled by board members, volunteers, or stipended independent contractors.
Reboot produces two main stage shows a year with occasional auxiliary programming.
Reboot operates on a fiscal calendar year (Jan-Dec).
Reboot raises funds through ticket sales, fundraising events, and grants. We also participate in online fundraising events such as Give Big and Giving Tuesday.
HOW TO BECOME A BOARD MEMBER
Ideally, you’ve seen a Reboot show or other programming, volunteered with us, taken a previous Reboot U class, or interacted with our community in some way.
Fill out a Reboot board application.
Complete one-on-one interviews with a few board members.
Observe a portion of a board meeting and meet the rest of the board.
Applicant will be voted on by current board members.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Length of Term:
We ask board members to serve three years on the board. Board members wishing to rejoin the board after three years can recommit for another term.
Meetings:
Attend monthly Board meetings (currently 10:30am-12:30pm on the third Sunday of the month, but flexible depending on needs of group); approx. 2hrs. These are usually remote, but occasionally in-person.
Attend “special” meetings (consulting meetings, emergency meetings, etc.) as outlined in the Bylaws of Reboot Theatre Company.
Financial:
Annual dues to be paid by all board members at start of fiscal year (Jan). Dues help to cover base operating expenses and may increase yearly. In 2023, board dues were $250 per person. In 2026, board dues are $300.
Commit to individually raising $1000 for the company annually. This may increase yearly.
This can be through a personal donation, soliciting donations, in-kind donations, or company matching.
Should a board member join after the beginning of our fiscal year, amount may be prorated based on board consensus.
Participate in fundraising activities as needed.
Production:
Board members are expected to volunteer their time during productions. Some examples include:
Manage the desk for auditions and callbacks.
Assist with FOH duties, serving as House Manager and/or Box Office Mgr. during performances.
Provide hospitality snacks for tech and load-in.
Run errands during tech.
Do show laundry.
Serve as artistic liaison for a production.
Attend invited production milestones, such as the first read-through, cast meet and greets, sitzprobe, and opening night receptions, as a representative of the board and the Reboot community.
Attend at least one (1) performance of each production.
Assist with load-in and strike of each production.
Operational:
Board members are expected to regularly check board emails and slack channels.
Board members may be asked to assist with non-production projects such as attending storage unit clean-out days.
Participating in fundraising activities and events as needed.
Committees and Teams:
Serve on at least one (1) committee and attend all relevant meetings.
Board members are also encouraged to serve on teams, used for short-term projects.
Advocacy:
Serve as an ambassador and advocate for Reboot Theatre in your communities.
Promote Reboot Theatre’s events.
Solicit potential new board members.
