ANYTHING GOES

About:

Reboot Theatre Company, in association with Theatre Off Jackson, presents an out of this world production of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes to boldly go where it has never gone before. Directed & Choreographed by Harry Turpin (Reboot’s Jesus Christ Superstar, Little Shop of Horrors, and Fly By Night), with music direction by Sam Peters (Reboot’s Oliver! and Jesus Christ Superstar). Performances run November 7 - 22, 2025.

It’s delightful, delicious and de-lovely! This 2022 revision of the hilarious shipboard romp features a revised script, updated in light of contemporary sensibilities.

Music & Lyrics by Cole Porter; Original Book by P.G. Wodehouse & Guy Bolton and Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse. New Book by Timothy Crouse & John Weidman. Presented through Concord Theatricals. All authorized performance materials are supplied by Concord Theatricals. www.concordtheatricals.com

Performers should be prepared for a dynamic, high-energy staging that pushes boundaries while honoring the heart of the original work (please note audition song requirements).

Character Breakdown

ACTOR 1: RENO  SWEENEY - a brassy evangelist turned nightclub singer. She’s got nightclub flair and a therapist’s third eye—glamorous, grounded, and two steps ahead of your emotional arc.

ACTOR TWO: BILLY - Whitney’s young assistant, Billy blends youthful hustle with a space cowboy’s grin. Equal parts golden retriever and smuggler—he fetches your coffee and swears he once ran an errand faster than the Kessel Run

ACTOR 3: HOPE - A debutante wrapped in silk and expectation, Hope carries herself with an almost hypnotic calm—graceful, deliberate, and always listening beneath the noise. There’s depth in her restraint, and rebellion behind her smile

ACTOR 4: EVELYN - A wealthy Englishman with the bearing of an aristocrat and the emotional curiosity of someone studying humans as a second language—earnest, endearing, and just a few beats behind the joke

ACTOR 5: MOONFACE MARTIN - He’s a gangster on paper, but emotionally, he’s more assistant manager at a space pawn shop—soft-hearted, loyalty-prone, and just trying to make crime work for his personality.

ACTOR 6: ERMA - Erma’s all sass and sequins on the surface, but beneath the gloss is someone disarmingly sincere. A gangster’s moll with a showgirl’s poise and a counselor’s instincts—she sees the good in people, even if they’re terrible criminals

ACTOR 7: MRS. HARCOURT/ENSEMBLE - A widow wrapped in pearls and intrigue, Mrs. Harcourt commandsthe room with an effortless grace—and a smile that says, ‘I know exactly what you're thinking... and I’ll let you think it

ACTOR 8: ELISHA WHITNEY/ENSEMBLE  - Elisha Whitney is a goggle-eyed tycoon, his vision as wide as his ambitions. With a mind constantly computing the next big leap and glasses that could catch the light of a thousand ideas, he’s the kind of man who believes anything is possible—so long as it’s grounded in logic and progress. He talks about the future like it’s already been invented, and while his schemes may sound like the product of a mad scientist, there’s always a method to his madness. Just don’t ask him to explain it too quickly—you’ll need a lot of coffee to keep up.

ACTORS 9/10: RENO’S ANGELS (2)/Ensemble
Reno’s Angels are showgirls with a twist—elegant, dazzling, and glitchy. Beneath the sequins and smiles, they’re droids in a world of glamour, occasionally slipping out of sync but always back on track with a flicker and a flourish

ACTOR 11: CAPTAIN/ENSEMBLE: The Ship’s Captain is a paragon of order, with the mind of a Starfleet officer and the steady hand of someone who knows how to keep the ship running. He’s logical and efficient, but there’s a warmth beneath that polished exterior—if you catch him when he’s not too busy plotting the next course

ACTOR 12: SHIP’S PURSER/ENSEMBLE The First Officer is a warrior in spirit and practice, loyal to the crew and resolute in duty. With Worf-level honor and a serious demeanor, they’re as much about action as they are about leadership—and diplomacy is more of an afterthought.

ACTORS 13/14: SPIT AND DIPPY/ENSEMBLE - Spit and Dippy are intergalactic toughs with egos that stretch across the universe—only their talent for chaos matches their swagger. Their idea of ‘surviving’ space usually involves avoiding any situation they’ve gotten themselves into... but somehow, they always escape unscathed—just barely

ACTORS 15/16: ENSEMBLE ROLES (2) - To cover all manners of roles in the show: agents, photographers, passengers, sailors, et cetera.
